What we do

Our support work focuses on four primary target groups:

•  Orphans and other vulnerable children (OVCs) 0-18yrs

•  Widows and Grannies

• Pre-school children 0-6yrs

• Chronically ill (HIV/AIDS related or otherwise)

To enable us to better respond to the specific needs of these groups and of our communities as a whole we have established a number of support groups that meet on a regular basis to discuss and address the issues affecting us in our daily lives.

Fundamental to the ongoing success of the groups is the active engagement of our community leaders. This has led to the communities we work with not only taking responsibility for activities and programmes, but also initiating and implementing their own. We have also enlisted the support of an increasingly extensive network of community members to monitor, supervise, and manage the running of activities.

Perhaps the most important aspect of our strategy for the care and support of orphans and vulnerable children though has been the active involvement of the children themselves in supporting each other through the formulation of self-help projects.
